Kathy persevered to get our lots sold. She's very detailed and diligent. We enjoyed working with her.
Kathy did a good job selling some lots for me in spite of some problem neighbors. We are considering buy another lot from her.
Hi I would just like to say Kathy Roemer did a great job selling my property that was hard to sell for many years. I would recommend Kathy as a good REALTOR® to others.
Kathy Roemer, Broker/REALTOR®, M.Ed., SRES, RSPS, ABR
Kathy has a broad knowledge of working with the mature population as well as people with disabilities. While studying for her master’s degree in Special Education, she learned about Universal Design, a set of building standards which maximize accessibility in the home to promote independent living. Many people develop mobility issues as they age, and experience decreased range of motion in arms and hands. This creates a situation where a home’s basic features may need to be modified. Kathy has spent her life dealing with a disability first-hand. She cares for her mother who has age related mobility issues, and her adult son is on the autism spectrum. Kathy has also worked with students who have special needs and understands the importance of an adaptive approach to home design.
In addition, Kathy has earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, which focuses on the needs of the mature (55+) population, whether they need to sell, buy, or access resources for home modifications allowing them to ‘age in place.’ People are living longer, more active lives than in the past, but may require certain changes as they age. Mobility issues or ability to access all parts of the home can be cause for concern. Kathy can audit your home and recommend resources for modifications as needed. The changes may be simple, changing knobs for levers or complex such as a roll-in shower or elevator. Kathy has experience with these issues on a first-hand basis. If your decision is to sell your current home and buy a new property, she can help you identify important features in selecting a new property that will meet your needs well into the future.
The Resort & Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation equips Kathy to assist people looking for retirement/investment properties. Brunswick County has a large number of vacation and investment properties so it helps to have someone who can explain the advantages and concerns of each type. Having lived in in coastal North Carolina for almost 30 years, she understands the unique challenges second-home owners face and can help her clients plan ahead for seasonal issues, property management considerations, even building code and insurance requirements that may be different from what they’re accustomed to.
Most recently, Kathy earned her Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, enhancing her ability to assist buyers in putting together a team of service professionals and coordinate their specialized skills. From home inspectors and surveyors to lenders and closing attorneys, Kathy guides her clients through the process with assurance and attention to detail. There’s a lot more to buying a new home than just negotiating a fair price. Kathy helps her clients gather all the information and resources necessary to be happy with their choice of property for years to come.
Kathy was born in New Jersey (in case you can’t place the accent) and lived in upstate New York and Connecticut before moving to Brunswick County in 1993. She has always been interested in real estate and in 2016 the timing and circumstances were finally right for her to get her broker’s license. Kathy’s mission is to help people live quality lives in the home of their choice. She truly loves her work and looks forward to helping you find a safe, secure, accessible property that you will love calling home.
